wolf guard 6 Secrets to Being a Smart Shopper

know the secrets to saving a lot of money when shopping? Then you’ve come to the right place.
You can save serious cash by planning your purchases and being aware of the games retailers play with you. Knowing all that gives you a big spending advantage.
Ready for the inside scoop? Check out our six secrets for becoming a smarter shopper.

1. Plan your vacations around “off” days

Most people leave for vacation on Friday, stay a week, and return on Sunday. The travel industry knows that, which is why you pay more on certain days and months.
Instead of that, alter your timeline and get a deal. Purchase plane tickets to fly out on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday to take advantage of lower prices. Also, check to see when condo rental prices are lowest and plan your vacation times around those if possible. Try to get a discount by price-matching your favorite locations. Those reduced travel expenses make the getaway extra sweet.

2. Purchase end-of-season clothing

You can find huge markdowns on clothing prices—sometimes 75% or more—when the season for those clothes is almost over. Retailers slash prices to get rid of short-sleeve shirts in November, swimsuits in September, or sweaters in April. If you are willing to wait a few months between buying clothes and wearing them, you’ll score serious savings multiple times a year.

3. Know your environment

Stores are designed to get you to spend money. Their strategies are subtle but effective. Did you know most grocery stores put colorful, fresh produce near the entrance to get you excited about shopping? And clothing retailers have their own tricks. They know many people head toward the right side of the store first—so store owners put brighter lights, louder music and more expensive items on that side.
Don’t fall for any of that. Have a plan when you walk through the door. Go straight to the items you want, grab them, pay for them, and get out. That way, you won’t be dazzled into overspending or buying something you won’t use.

4. Shop at estate sales on the last day

You get the best bargains at an estate sale by shopping during its final hours. At that point, the seller is probably desperate to unload whatever is left so they aren’t stuck with it. Throw out a lowball offer to save even more cash on the items you want. Look for multiple estate sales in your area and see what each of them has to offer. Finding even one deal makes it worth the effort.

5. Take advantage of some grocery services

Sometimes a grocery store service is free, such as the butcher cutting your meat or the florist arranging flowers that you purchase. Check to see if the person behind the counter performs the service at no charge, and if so, take advantage of the offer. But don’t buy a pizza cooked by the store deli—you can get the same pizza in the frozen food section for half the price.

6. Don’t buy brand-new technology

Many people want to get the newest mobile device as soon as it comes out, and that means they’ll pay top dollar for it. Instead, if you are willing to go without the latest phone or tablet for a year or two, then you can “upgrade” from your current model to a more recent and unused one without paying a first-day price.

DIY LED Ring Light

DIY LED Ring Light

Proper lighting of your subject is perhaps one of the most fundamental yet difficult tasks to achieve in photography. Oftentimes, using the flash function on your camera will leave harsh shadows in the photograph and may not be ideal, as the lighting condition on a camera flash is inconsistent and somewhat unpredictable. LED ring lights can provide a way for photographers emit a consistent and even light on their subject, directed by the camera's field of view.

Instructions
1
Place your camera filter on a clear plastic disc from the CD-R cake box packaging. Mark the circumference of the camera filter on the plastic disc.

2
Cut the plastic disc along the marked perimeter of the camera filter. Fit the camera filter into the hole cut out from the disc, and glue them together using super glue.

3.Cut the side portion off the cake box casing's top cover, leaving approximately 2 cm of a lip from the top of the casing. Mark out a center hole on the casing at approximately the size of the camera filter. Cut open a central hole from the casing cover along the marks.

4
Sand both sides of the top cover of the casing to achieve an evenly sanded surface. This will help diffuse the LED lighting evenly from the ring light rig.

5
Solder the wirings of the two LED rings together. Solder the 90mm ring light's wiring into the 120mm ring light's wires to combine the circuitry of the rig.

6
Apply super glue to the backs of the LED ring lights and attach them to the plastic disc, fitting it snugly around the camera filter rim.

7
Attach the camera filter onto your camera lens, and hook up the LED wiring into a 12-volt battery to turn on the ring light.

How Much Electricity Does a Neon Light Use?

How Much Electricity Does a Neon Light Use?

Besides being one of the most attractive options for colorful signage, neon tubes are a comparatively energy-efficient light source that consumes much less power relative to the brightness of the light it puts out, than incandescent or fluorescent light sources do. Only the newest light-emitting diode technologies challenge neon when it comes to efficient colored light.

Neon Power Consumption
Measure the power consumption of a linear light source like a neon tube by using a ratio of watts used per foot of neon. The power consumption of a given neon tube depends on the type of transformer used and the color of the neon, but consumption of 3 1/2 to 4 watts per foot for red neon is typical. That means that a foot of red neon tube that burns for 12 hours per day will consume from 15.33 to 17.52-kilowatt hours of electricity per year. Measure the efficiency of neon as a proportion of lumens -- a unit of light output -- per watt.

Compared to LED
Light-emitting diodes are suggested as energy-efficient alternatives to neon tubes, but the comparisons, which often claim a 90 percent energy savings for LED, often fail to take into account the relative inefficiency of LED light sources as compared to neon. While an LED light source of a similar color and size to neon may consume less power, a foot of LED tube lighting left on for 12 hours per day may consume as little as 3.5 kWh per year; the LED typically outputs much less light than the neon tube. Adjusting the brightness of the LED for comparison to neon, the difference in power consumption is less pronounced.

Compared to Fluorescent and Incandescent
When compared to a fluorescent bulb, neon is much more efficient, with a fluorescent fixture consuming more than 50 percent more power than a comparable neon light source. High output fluorescent bulbs consume even more power; a foot of HO fluorescent tube consumes 70 kWh per year when burned 12 hours per day. The difference in power consumption between neon and incandescent bulbs is even greater; incandescent bulbs can consume up to four times as much power as similar fluorescent bulbs.

Alternatives
Although the difference in power consumption between neon and LED light sources is not as great as it might first appear to be, LEDs have other advantages that can make them an attractive alternative to neon. New flexible LED tube lights mimic the look of neon but are more durable and long lasting. They are resistant to water and humidity, produce almost no heat and are capable of producing lighting effects that traditional neon cannot achieve.

How to Troubleshoot a Payne Furnace's Blinking Lights

How to Troubleshoot a Payne Furnace's Blinking Lights

Like many new, high efficiency furnaces, Payne furnaces come equipped with an internal diagnostic system that lets you know if the system is not running properly. When the diagnostic system encounters a problem, it will alert you by flashing a code through the use of the light emitting diode, or LED, lights located on the furnace. By paying close attention to the LED display on your Payne furnace, you can troubleshoot any potential problems as they evolve. The LED lights are typically located on the front toward the bottom of the furnace where the controls are located.

Instructions
1
Watch the LED display and count the number of times the light blinks. Payne diagnostic codes are two number codes. The first number is indicated by fast blinks and the second number by slower blinks. Write down the code after counting out the blinks for both the first and second number.

2
Refer to your owner's manual for the corresponding meaning of the codes. Some of the most common codes include a 13 or 33 which indicate a limit switch lockout, 14 or 34 indicate an ignition lockout, 24 indicates an open fuse and 31 indicates that a pressure switch is open. Any other fault code usually indicates the need to contact a service repair person.

Check for a dirty air filter, a blocked return air or air-supply grille if you have a code 13 or 33.

4
Check that the manual shut off valve located on the gas supply pipe is in the open position for a code 14 or 34. Turn off the electrical supply and remove the access doors if that is not the problem. Locate the control switch or knob on the gas valve inside the furnace and ensure that it is in the "on" position. If either of these were not on or open, you will need to follow your furnace's start-up procedures after opening or turning them on.

5
Examine the fuses and the 24-volt wiring for a blown fuse or faulty wiring if your furnace gives you a code 24.

6
Look for cracks or damage to any of the PVC pipes leading to the combustion-air intake and the vent or exhaust if you or given a code 31. Also look for blockages in the combustion-air intake both on the side of the furnace and outside the home. Examine the vent or exhaust on the outside of the home for obstructions.

How to Install an LED in a C5 Corvette

How to Install an LED in a C5 Corvette

LED lights are appreciated for their brightness, longevity and easy installation. Interior LED lighting allows you to customize the interior of your car by creatively choosing the colors and locations of the LED lights. You can either create special visual effects, or you can add to the convenience of your car by installing LED lights where passengers particularly need bright lighting. While installation in your C5 Corvette is not particularly demanding, it does require wiring your lights to your car battery, and therefore, if you are inexperienced with electrical circuits, consult an experienced mechanic first, for safety reasons.

Instructions
1
Disconnect the positive and negative terminals of your car battery, for safety purposes, before you start working.

2
Mark the spot in your C5 Corvette where you would like to install your LED light. Be sure to install it in a location where it cannot be easily kicked, damaged or displaced.

Use a drill bit, of diameter slightly smaller than that of your screws, to make holes in your car. Thread the screws through your LED lights, and use a screwdriver to fasten your LED lights to your car interior surface.

4
Attach your LED lights to 12-gauge AWG cable. Pass the 12-gauge AWG cable through pre-existing holes in the firewall of your car, which separates the engine from the interior of your car. Connect the 12-gauge AWG cable to your car battery. Connect the positive (red) wires to the positive terminal of the battery, the negative (black) wires to the negative battery terminal, and the green wire to the battery housing, where it can serve as a ground.

5
Reconnect your car battery. When you turn on the engine, your LED light will turn on.
